Protect your new iPad or e-reader with a stylish cover [keyboard cover]

With so many e-readers and iPads on holiday wish lists, a cool cover or case for your new gadget is the next step for many shoppers. It's the best way to carry around your new item to protect it from bumps and scratches. Luckily, there are loads of styles and sizes available. One of the biggest makers of covers is DODOCase, a San Francisco company that creates cases for iPads and iPhones, BlackBerries and Kindles using bookbinding techniques and eco-friendly products, including bamboo. Prices ranges from $49.95 to $89.95. The company will even monogram your cover for $9.95 using a foil-stamping technique.
Barnes & Noble, which sells the Nook e-reader, also offers a great selection of cases for the device including styles by designers Jonathan Adler and Kate and Jack Spade.Adler's bold Blue Chevron cover for the Nook Color and Nook Tablet ($39.95) features a canvas lining plus inside pockets to store notes and cards. Look for them in Barnes & Noble stores, including the one at Hamburg Place in Lexington.
Vera Bradley, makers of quilted bags and accessories, now offers a collection of sleeves for iPads, e-readers and laptops too, sporting the company's signature colorful patterns.Cyber Monday Deals 2011 Laptop Notebook Cool Pad w/ 3 Fans Computer Accessories. And just like the company's traditional bags, the sleeves feature contrasting fabrics on the inside, looking just as fashionable whether open or closed. Prices range from $24 to $32 for an e-reader sleeve and up to $45 for a 17-inch laptop cover. I didn’t have enough time for even a comprehensive hands-on evaluation but the concept and little problems solved by TouchFire seem sound: The keys give properly, strike properly even if not hit exactly right, accept sliding (to reveal alternate characters), and allow your fingers to actually rest and re-orient.
TouchFire isn’t on the market yet. It’s a Kickstarter project which has received pledges amounting to nearly 10 times the $10,000 in backing it sought. This means it will be funded on Dec. 13, and Isaac told Wired.com he hopes to ship as early as January. Pledge $45 and you’ve pre-ordered.Incredibly compact and reasonably sturdy, the Macally MagStand2 for the iPad 2 is a great mounting solution as it's very easy to install and simple to use. It's strong enough hold the iPad 2 with magnetic strips built-in, and can work as a stand. If you watch and follow cooking shows or check recipes while cooking, the Macally MagStand2 can certainly hold your iPad 2 in place for easy viewing. The mount however has only one viewing angle and it doesn't have any additional features such as pass through charging option.
