LG Nexus 4 Inherits Worst Feature Of iPhone

The LG Nexus 4 happens to be a device that is beautiful. It comes with the 4.7 inch screen and it has the crystal reflection pattern when the back is held to light. It has soft touch plastic and glass on the front and back. However while all of these things go towards making it one of the most unique looking handsets, they also ensure that it is one of the world's most fragile handsets.Glass of course was never going to be the best covering. We saw this with the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S over the past two years. Yet LG chose it for both the front and back of the LG Nexus 4. On the front the display has protection from Gorilla Glass, and the back was supposed to have the same protection too. However it appears that the glass back of the device happens to be among the worst design ideas ever.
Droid-Life says that there have been reports of the glass plate on the back of the handset cracking within weeks of owing the device, even when treating the device with kid gloves.Worse still the LG Nexus 4 doesn't even have to be dropped for the glass to crack. DL said that the glass cracked on one handset when it was placed on a countertop due to the change in temperature from the hand to the coolness of the countertop!If you go into Android forums you will find other people talking about how their device cracked even though owners have been very careful with the handset. Even a recent teardown analysis by a member over at XDA Developers pointed out that LG failed to put any crash zones on the Nexus 4, meaning that on impact there was no protection cushion.
So why did LG and Google choose to use glass on the LG Nexus 4? The majority of companies have stopped using glass on the back of their handsets and you only have to do a search for "glass back on iPhone" to see why. So how could LG and Google not have learned from the mistake that Apple made? Apple has since replaced the glass back with aluminium when they released the iPhone 5.Everyone knows just how fragile glass can be, well everyone apart from LG it seems. Therefore if you do decide to get the LG Nexus 4, make sure that you add a bumper case and back screen protector to your purchase.If, like me, you hate the look of the plastic film-style screen protectors, but still want to protect your screen, I highly recommend the Liquid Armor Invisible screen protector. It's invisible, but it really does work - just make sure to follow the instructions (waiting 10 minutes before touching the screen and 24 hours before getting the screen wet). While I don't have the guts to take a razor blade to my iPhone 5's screen, I can tell you that the screen on my iPhone 5 still looks new, after two months of mobile abuse.
